Sakshi’s Political Colour to Araku MLA’s Killing

Araku MLA Kidari Sarveswara Rao and Former MLA Siveri Soma were killed in a dastardly attack by the Maoists in the Agency Area the other day. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s Sakshi Media has started politicizing the issue even as the need of the hour is to condemn the Violence and the Gun Culture by Maoists. This is the first high-profile Killing by Maoists after State Bifurcation.

Sakshi termed this as an intelligence failure saying that it happened because the State Government diverted 64 officials to survey for Telangana Elections to benefit Mahakutami. But the fact is that Intelligence has intercepted about a possible attack and the Police passed on the information to the MLA four days before the attack.

But the MLA did not take it seriously and even did not inform the Police about his visit. Only Two Gunmen followed him who were overpowered by the Maoists who are around 50 in number. On the other side, Sakshi also mentioned that Maoists mentioned the MLA changing the party by taking money.

The report said Maoists have asked the MLA’s Driver how much money he took to change the party. The Channel went on to say that he may have survived if he did not change the party. Kidari Sarveswara Rao was elected as an MLA for the first time in 2014 on YSR Congress Ticket. YSR Congress’ Petition for his disqualification is pending with the Speaker.
