Sakshi trying to escape in the name of Freedom of Press

Press Council of India had asked for an explanation from AP DGP over registering cases on Sakshi Newspaper for the news on alleged Land scam in Amaravati. DGP Ramudu already confirmed that Sakshi Journalists have to prove their News or face the cases. Press Council of India is finding fault with Police and calling it as curbing Freedom of Press.

However it is an open secret that Sakshi has political agenda over this issue. The Media management is obviously the main opposition in the state and there can not be any prizes for guessing how the news came. When you are trying to make an issue out of Amaravati which carries huge public interests, you can not be allowed mud slinging in the name of Freedom of Press.

Freedom with out responsibility is dangerous to democracy. Sakshi should come forward and prove their allegations or give a clean chit to Amaravati by tendering a public apology. They should not try to escape in the name of Freedom of Press or Press Council of India. Lets hope better sense prevails.
