The Supreme Court ordered Muppidi Avinash Reddy to surrender in the Rs 3200 crore liquor scam case. The Apex Court said that he surrender to the inquiring body and then apply for bail in the Trial Court. The Supreme Court dismissed Reddy’s plea for anticipatory bail.
He is considered to be A7 in the case, often being linked to financial dealings of distilleries run by him or monitored by him. He was also found to be a key participant in talks that decided orders of supplies when the scam took place. He was found to be close to A1 Raj Kasireddy and for floating shell companies to covert black money into white.
With this background, it is imminent that Avinash Reddy will surrender to the investigating agency. The point being raised by Andhra citizens is how long will Avinash Reddy be detained. Barring A1 Raj Kasireddy, many of the accused are out on bail. Will it be a long haul in jail for Avinash Reddy, AP is wondering.
Incidentally, Avinash Reddy was arrested in his uncle Viveka’s murder case in 2023 on June 8 and was released on the same day.
Avinash Reddy is considered to be very close to Jagan which makes the ruling timely. Jagan will be more involved in getting his cousin out rather than playing casteist politics in the state.
