Security Breach at Parliament Raises Alarm

Parliament, one of the most heavily guarded buildings in India, witnessed a security breach early Friday. A man climbed a tree, jumped over the wall, and entered the premises before being detained. He entered from Rail Bhavan’s side and reached the Garuda Gate in the new Parliament building.

The incident occurred shortly after the monsoon sessions ended. The sessions had started on July 21. The police are currently questioning the man to determine his motives and background.

Similar breaches have happened in the past. During the 2023 winter sessions, two youths jumped into the House from the public gallery and triggered coloured smoke bombs, creating tension. In August 2024, another youth breached security and was later found to be mentally unstable.

This latest intrusion once again highlights the need to reassess security measures at Parliament and public spaces across the country. Authorities may need stricter surveillance and improved protocols to prevent future incidents.
