Service Providers admit tapping orders by Telangana government

According to the popular English tabloid TOI report, Service Providers have admitted that they are instructed by the Telangana government to tap some phone numbers. They revealed this in the petition submitted to the Supreme Court. Interestingly they have said that tapping period is between May and June, exactly the time when Cash for Vote scam is unearthed.

Airtel, Idea and Reliance companies said that Telangana government instructed them to do the tapping according to Section 5 of the Telegraphic act but they do not know the content and intent behind it. It is known that the service providers have knocked the supreme court door regarding this issue saying that they are caught between Telangana and AP governments.

Telangana government threatened the service providers with criminal prosecution if the related information is provided to the courts or AP government. On the other side, AP government is pressurizing them to furnish the details. The Supreme Court had ordered the companies to provide the data in sealed cover to the court.
