Sex-Starved 78-Year-Old Man Loses 1.02 Crore

Dating sites can be quite dangerous, especially if you are a 78-year-old man who happens to be a widower and was a senior officer at a private company before his retirement. The man was duped of Rs 1.02 crore by ‘employees’ from a dating service.

After realizing his folly, the victim lodged an FIR at the Cyber police station in Pune. The fraudsters identified themselves as Rajat Sinha and Neha Sharma and contacted the victim in May 2022 over the phone. The duo then kept the conversation going over Whatsapp and said they would introduce him to women through their dating sites.

Ironically, the man paid money to the fraudsters as they demanded money for their services. Meanwhile, the duo also promised him some ‘refundable charges’. The victim transferred money into accounts that were provided by the fraudsters in a series of deposits after May 2022. The victim did not get any dating service and neither did he get any refund.

The Pune police have lodged a complaint against Rajat Sinha and Neha Sharma and others whose bank accounts were used for transfers.
