Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu expressed his idea of shifting some of the government offices to the temporary capital, Vijayawada. While implementing the idea several practical problems such as locating the space for offices and residential accommodation for the officers and employees cropped up. It is now said that the shifting of offices may not be possible until the first half of the next year.
The government has tried to shift some of the head of the departments at least in the next two months but most of the HODs needs to attend court cases personally on a regular basis. Since the high court is currently in Hyderabad it is not easy for them to oscillate between the two cities very often. They informed the government that the shifting may be delayed till permanent arrangements are made in Vijayawada. The other issues that will crop up with the immediate relocation are residential accommodation in Vijayawada, higher rents in the city, spouses problem etc.
