Shocking Rumor on Vicks Vaporub!

A post named ‘Mom applies this remedy to her baby, shortly after he dies. Be careful with this, moms!’ has gone viral recently on Facebook. This post says that a Mexican mother applied Vicks on the chest and nose of her 2-year-old baby as a remedy for cold and later after a few hours found her baby breathless and took the baby to the hospital only to find the baby is no more.

The post also has described the scientific reason behind the tragedy. They wrote that medical report pointed the reason for death to be inflammation in respiratory tract caused by camphor present in Vicks VapoRub. Many have responded to the post conveying their condolences and reposted the content on various blogs.

However, there is no proof for the incident of the death of a toddler due to the usage of Vicks VapoRub. The image of baby shared in the post was found to be a stock picture showing that the incident is unreal. One comes across such deceptive stories every now and then on social media. It is advisable to always be wary about such hoaxes instead of believing and spreading them over.
