Singapore sets stringent clauses for Amaravati

Singapore government companies consortium had submitted a fresh proposal to be the Master developer of Amaravati, the upcoming capital of Andhra Pradesh. However they have put in stringent clauses to take up development of 1,619 acres in the upcoming capital city. The proposal said in case of any dispute, London should be the place for arbitration.

The proposal also stress on the need for the government to indemnify the land parcels taken up for development in case of third party dispute as Singapore does not want itself to be caught in litigation over the ownership of the land parcels. CRDA and Singapore officials will meet on May 17 to decide on the conditions including the place of arbitration.

The proposal also ask CRDA to setup timeline set by its companies to create ‘trunk’ infrastructure such as sewage, roads, and power supply, keeping pace with their work. They also seek quick permissions and exemptions from stamp duty for the development of the area. Singapore companies have proposed to develop 1,619 acres and AP government will have 49 per cent equity in the project, mostly in the form of land while Singapore companies will pump in money.
