Smart City status to come to Amaravati rescue?

Reports emerging from media suggests that the proposed world class new capital Amaravati may be picked as Smart City by the Smart City Mission of the Union Government. This if true is likely to come to the rescue of people’s aspirations at least to some extent. The central government already clarified that it can only give 2500 Crore for the capital construction.

This also include 1000 Crore which is already given for Vijayawada and Guntur development. So Amaravati is likely to get 1500 Crore more. If the upcoming capital is picked for Smart Cities Project, the center will be funding at least 100 Crore per year for the city which will come handy at least to some expenses.

Venkaiah Naidu is heading the Urban Development Ministry that is overseeing the Smart Cities program and so the state government is hopeful of making it to the final list. If that happens, it will also help the farmers who gave their lands for the capital, as the real estate will boom after such announcement.
