Solution for Power Tussles on 22nd!

Union Government has pressed Central Electricity Authority(CEA) to solve the ongoing power issues between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh over the cancellation of PPAs and Power sharing in Krishnapatnam and Hinduja Power Plants. CEA has invited both the states for a meeting on 22nd of this month.

CEA is expected to deliver its final decision in this meeting. Telangana government is planning to approach Court if the judgement comes against them. Already CEA has appointed Neeraja Mathur committee to deal with this issue but failed to reach a consensus as both the states took their stands.

According to the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act, the power available in United State is divided according to the usage of the power in each region over the last 10 years. Accordingly Telangana is given 52.12% power generated in the state and AP is given the rest of the 47.88% power. However AP has withdrew few unapproved PPAs and is refusing Power for Telangana in some plants. They are also refusing power for Telangana in new plants like Krishnapatnam and Hinduja where there are no PPAs at all.
