Special Package: Fake Note in Beggar’s Bowl

After a lot of drama in Delhi throughout the day, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley along with Venkaiah Naidu held a Press meet almost at the stroke of midnight. There are several speculations about the quantum of the Special Development Package ranging up to One Lakh Fifty Thousand Crores. But then Arun Jaitley’s Pressmeet went totally pointless.

Jaitley mentioned about covering the Revenue deficit for the first year will be reimbursed and the calculation will be finalized by Niti Aayog and the state government. Jaitley also added that Minister Suresh Prabhu is seriously considering Railway Zone issue and the location is an internal issue. One can clearly see there is nothing new in these statements.

The only new things in Jaitley’s Pressmeet are about Polavaram and Compensation for Special Status loss. Jaitley went on to say that the Center will be paying everything for Polavaram construction since April 1st 2014 from when the project is recognized as a National Project. To compensate Special Status, Jaitley said the center will be compensating through Externally Aided Projects. On a whole, the Pressmeet totally looks absurd and pointless.
