Sugali Preethi Case Handed Over to CBI

The Sugali Preethi case that shook Andhra Pradesh has now gone to the CBI. The Chandrababu government issued orders and transferred the investigation, keeping its word on the sensitive case.

The case was first filed in August 2017 at the Kurnool police station. The chief secretary of the Home Ministry has now handed it to the CBI. Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan had earlier promised that the case would reach CBI.

After Chandrababu returned to power, Pawan Kalyan kept his focus on the case. He spoke with CID officials and asked for a proper probe. Earlier, when YSRCP was in power, he organised a large rally in Kurnool and demanded that the case be moved to CBI.

Under pressure, the YSRCP government issued GO No 37 to transfer the Preetibai case to the CBI. But the case saw no further progress after that.

In 2017, Preetibai died by suicide under suspicious conditions in a Kurnool school. Her parents accused others of abuse. In 2019, when YSRCP took power, Pawan Kalyan again pushed the case, and the government provided benefits to her family.

Now, with Chandrababu back in power, the case has officially been handed over to the CBI. This fulfils Pawan Kalyan’s long-standing promise as Deputy Chief Minister.
