Supreme Court Refuses to Grant Relief to Jagan’s Three Capitals Plan

Supreme Court’s Bench led by Justice Ashok Bhushan heard a petition challenging the decision of the Andhra Pradesh High Court’s direction to maintain the status quo of the State’s three-capital plan. The Andhra Pradesh government had moved the Supreme Court, seeking vacation of the High Court’s stay order on the three-capital legislation.

In a major disappointment to the State Government, the Supreme Court refused to entertain the petition in light of the ongoing proceedings before High Court. The apex court also opined that it is appropriate that the HC hear the plea on a day-to-day basis and dispose it off expeditiously.

Jagan Mohan Reddy Government is keen on finishing the administration shift by Vijayadasami but it is unlikely now. The Apex court specially considered the decision of Famous Lawyer, Nariman while hearing to this matter. Nariman told the court that the High Court in Amaravati was setup on the President’s Order.

The State Government should not make acts against the Presidential Orders, he told. The State Government asked the Apex court to direct the High Court to dispose the case in a certain period of time. But the Supreme Court regused to give any such direction.
