Narasapuram MP K. Raghuramakrishnamraju (RRR) has decided to join the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and contest as an alliance candidate. The formal joining is expected to take place in the presence of TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu. RRR has already resigned from the primary membership of the YSRCP.
Earlier, there was uncertainty regarding which party RRR would contest on behalf of, as there were expectations that he might contest as a BJP candidate. However, after the TDP-Janasena-BJP alliance, the allocation of Lok Sabha seats was adjusted. Chandrababu and Pawan agreed to allot six seats to the BJP alliance.
It is reported that Chandrababu made it clear to the top leadership of the TDP that he would allocate the Narasapuram MP seat to the BJP only if RRR is the candidate. The consensus between Chandrababu and Pawan on this matter was communicated to the central leadership of the BJP. As a result, it appears that the BJP has favored the Eluru seat instead.
With RRR expected to contest as an MP candidate on behalf of the TDP from the Narasapuram Lok Sabha seat, the TDP leaders are expressing joy at having the bicycle symbol in every constituency in the upcoming elections. The allocation of seats among the alliance parties is seen as a strategy to strengthen the alliance’s electoral prospects.
