TRS candidate Swamy Goud is elected as the Chairman of Council in Telangana. The election became imminent as Congress put up its candidate for the election. Congress has protested that the election should be postponed until the defection complaints are dealt with but the government went on with it. At one stage, TRS member Sudhakar Reddy and Congress member Shabbir Ali pushed each other.
Finally Congress MLCs under the leadership of D Srinivas boycotted the election. Later the deputy Chariman announced that Swamy Goud is elected by secret ballot. TDP issued whip to its members to remain neutral as both the parties are equally distant to it. Later on Swamy Goud took charge as Council chairman.
