T-govt’s selective support to Reorganization Act

While Telangana government is trying its level best to stop the imposing of Section 8, an integral part of Andhra Pradesh Reorganization, Telangana’s IT Minister K Taraka Ramarao foul cries on violation of AP Reorganization Act.

It is known that Income Tax department deducted 1274 Crore from Telangana’s account with RBI towards the arrears of Liquor sale in the United State. On one side objecting the implementation of the Act, KTR meets Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and termed RBI’s act as violation of the AP Reorganisation Act.

KTR protested that the Department had deducted the entire liability from its account while the Act specifically mentioned that assets and liabilities were to be divided on population ratio. However RBI sources says Telangana government faltered on basic maths. They say the actual IT arrears are of 3100 Crore which were divided and Telangana’s share arrived at 1274 Crore.
