T-MSOs are not above the law – Supreme Court!

Supreme Court today has made stern comments regarding the ban of ABN-Andhrajyothy Channel in Telangana region. The court agreed with the ABN’s petition that T-MSOs despite being private people are not above the law.

In the other petition by ABN regarding annexing of the Freedom of Press, Supreme Court issued notices to the Center, Telangana government, all district Collectors of the state, MSOs and Hyderabad Police Commissioner and asked them to respond in three weeks.

The services of TV9 and ABN-Andhrajyothy were barred by the MSOs several months ago in Telangana state. The channels were banned by the MSOs of the region after Telangana Chief Minister K Chandra Sekhar Rao slammed them in Assembly for airing derogatory and false news on the region and the newly elected government. TV9’s services were resumed after it managed to get an order of TDSAT but ABN is still fighting it in courts over the ban.
