T to take away AP’s Pushkaralu glory!

Godavari Pushkaralu which comes every 12 years is going to happen in July next year. Andhra Pradesh government is planning to make the festival a grand success with about 500 Crore allocation. Rajahmundry in East Godavari is a famous Godavari Pushkar ghat where there is a big Sivalingam where one can take a shower from the water drawn from Godavari.

It is estimated that 2 Crore pilgirms from the Telugu states and other states of India will come to Rajahmundry during the Pushkaralu season. However Telangana government has not decided to upstage AP by creating the Pushkar bathing ghats in Telangana itself. Telangana government is of the opinion that Seema Andhra rulers misled Telangana people to Rajahmundry and are now planning bathing ghats in few areas of the new state.

Officials have estimated 650 Crores to conduct this festival in Telangana. However the government low on funds asked them to see if it can be done for Rs 400 crores. The officials say that if the festival is to attract huge crowds, bathing ghats and temples along the rivers have to be rebuilt afresh as most of them are in a bad state.
