Earlier, DMK MLAs forced the house to adjourn for two times and alleging ruckus by the MLAs, Speaker had suspended them from the house and got them evicted from the house by Marshals and Police. Even Leader of Opposition, MK Stalin is seen coming out of the Assembly with a torn shirt.

Congress and IUML MLAs staged a Walkout after the Speaker suspended DMK MLAs. With only both the factions of AIADMK MLAs remained in the house, Palaniswami sailed away comfortably. Only 11 MLAs of O Paneerselvam faction voted against him.

There is no live transmission of Tamil Nadu Assembly proceedings. The Transistor which airs the audio vocals of the house proceedings in the media box was stopped and the Press Personnel were stopped from covering the Assembly proceedings. Only Sasikala supporting Jaya TV was allowed to air the Assembly visuals which were selectively picked up to portray DMK in poor light.
