Steel Plant Issue: TDP Must Have A Firm Stand!

Chandrababu Naidu often says he will show the Naidu of 1995, but over the years, you have mostly seen CBN the Politician overpower CBN the Administrator. For once, the administrator came forward at the Partnership Summit and spoke without filters.

When asked about the Vishaka Steel Plant, Naidu gave a blunt reply. He told the Visakhapatnam steel plant employees that they expect salaries without working efficiently. You heard him question their approach and ask why they feel entitled to public money.

Naidu asked how anyone can sleep at home and still expect salaries. He said employees need to work instead of assuming governments will fund them forever. He pointed out that a new private factory will turn profitable within a year and asked why the steel plant suffers losses.

He reminded everyone that taxpayers fund public sector companies. Naidu said critics are “threatening” the government instead of demanding efficiency. His remarks pushed forward bitter truths about failing PSUs and the way Andhra Sentiment keeps the Steel Plant running on public money without real progress.

His frank comments created political trouble for the Telugu Desam Party. The Opposition has already targeted the ruling party by accusing it of hurting Steel Plant workers and people’s sentiment. Even local TDP leaders stepped back after the controversy.

Worried about political fallout, Gajuwaka MLA Palla Srinivasa Rao and Bheemili MLA Ganta Srinivasa Rao addressed the media to manage the damage. Their statements show how sensitive the issue has become for the party on the ground.

You can see that TDP still lacks a clear and firm stand on the Steel Plant issue. The present government has brought major investments to Vishakapatnam and the Uttarandhra region, and the region continues to support TDP with political maturity even during tough elections.

If the Steel Plant harms long-term public interest, TDP needs to take a clear position and explain it to the people. Only a consistent stand earns respect, and voters appreciate honesty more than shifting statements.
