Gudivada Assembly seat is prestigious to Telugu Desam Party and Nandamuri fans in many ways. It is the constituency of the Party’s founder Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao. The sitting MLA of the constituency, Kodali Nani was a close aide of Junior NTR. He ditched NTR and Telugu Desam Party and shifted to YSR Congress. He foulmouthed Chandra Babu and TDP very badly after his exit. TDP installed Raavi Venkateswara Rao as the Party incharge there.
But the equations in the constituency are always tilted towards Nani as he had more grip on poll management and YSR Congress’ SC votes are going to be bonus.But Chandra Babu concentrated on this seat and now tilted it in favour of Telugu Desam Party. Congress leader Pinnamaneni Venkateswara Rao was brought in to TDP and his strength gave TDP an upper hand. Pinnamaneni family are associated with Congress for decades and they have good following in the constituency.
