
Ashok Gajapathi Raju has filed a petition in the High Court challenging the appointment of Sanchaita as the chairperson. The bench, after hearing the arguments of both the parties, passed a judgment to this effect. In March 2020, to checkmate the TDP veteran, Sanchaita the daughter of Ashok Gajapathi Raju’s late brother’s divorced wife was brought into the picture and was made the chairperson overnight.
Ashok Gajapathi Raju, who was the chairman at the time, was forced to resign. Ashok Gajapathi Raju then approached the High Court. He pointed out to the court that the government had appointed the chairman of these trusts contrary to the regulations. The government, however, argued that the appointment was made in accordance with the rules.
After hearing the arguments of both parties, the high court gave the ruling in favor of the former Union Minister. The government may approach the Supreme Court on this issue.
