TDP Seniors warn Naidu not to leave ‘Gold Dust’

While YSR Congress had finalized its candidate for Rajya Sabha elections, the ruling Telugu Desam Party is yet to finalize its three candidates. The major delay is due to BJP looking to renominate Nirmala Sitharaman from TDP quota. Naidu is in a dilemma as it would send wrong signals to people as they see BJP is cheating the state.

However he may be forced to give the seat in the best interests of the state. But the party seniors are not at all in favour of giving BJP the seat. Besides political problems, they feel Rajya Sabha seats are Gold Dust at the Center since BJP government has no numbers to move crucial bills there.

In case, TDP gets all the three, four if possible, that will improve the party’s bargaining power with the center, they feel. Naidu is likely to take a final decision in a day or two. The voting will happen on June 11th. It will be an unanimous election unless TDP puts up a forth candidate.
