T-Assembly hall to undergo a makeover

It is known that Telangana state has retained the lavish Assembly Hall previously used by the United State after the state bifurcation. The Assembly hall has the provision to house 300 members at a time to suit the strength of the then MLAs who are 294 in number.

But now Telangana at most will require 165 seats even when a joint session is held as there are 120 MLAs, including one nominated member, and 40 MLCs. So it decided that the current number of seats have to be reduced to 165 for next year’s budget session. This was decided in a meeting chaired by speaker S Madhusudhana Chary and attended by legislative affairs minister T Harish Rao and officials of the roads & buildings department.

Already the opposition parties have been demanding a change in their places in Assembly as they allege that the ruling party members are sitting just behind them and are tormenting them using cuss words.
