Builders Threaten Govt To Stall Work On Projects: TG

Contractors and builders have issued a strong warning to the Telangana government, demanding immediate clearance of all pending bills. They stated that if payments are not made by December 1, all construction work on government projects will stop.

The Builders Association of India (BAI) said the government owes builders around Rs 18,000 crore for the past two years. Members revealed that contractors have been forced to mortgage properties and take high-interest loans to keep projects running.

The Association said the situation has become unbearable and the delay is pushing many builders to financial collapse. They accused the government of ignoring repeated pleas despite the mounting crisis.

The BAI announced that if the Revanth Reddy-led government fails to act, work will be halted across all government construction projects from December 1. The group warned that the impact will be severe if the dues remain unpaid.

In October 2025, the BAI sent an open letter to the government urging immediate payment. They said small contractors with pending bills ranging from Rs 10,000 to Rs 1 crore are suffering the most under this financial pressure.
