Telangana to Give a National Award Yearly on the Name of NTR

In a surprise move, Telangana government will present a national award every year in the name of Legend NTR. The state government will give away its own State Film Awards from Ugadi festival next year on the lines of Nandi awards which used to be given by the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh government.

Telangana government will change the nomenclature of Nandi awards and present awards from Ugadi, the new Telugu year. NTR is a legendary Telugu Superstar and is also the founder of the rival Telugu Desam Party. So, it comes as a surprise that TRS government had decided to give away an award in his name.

Besides this, the state government would give awards to film personalities in 19 categories. Paidi Jayaraj Film Award, Raghupati Venkaiah, Kantarao and Prabhakara Reddy awards would be presented. The best film award to a film which promotes national integration would be given in the name of Sarojini Naidu.
