T govt mulls over Single Smart Card System

Telangana government is mulling on the idea of introducing a single smart card system in the state which will replace multiple cards with a single card that can function as a debit card, identity proof, pre-paid transportation ticket card and as access control to work places. The Chief Minister asked Hitachi company to explore the possibility of working with the state on this system.

He asked them to take Hyderabad as Pilot Project and then expand the smart card service to other big towns such as Warangal, Khammam and Karimnagar. Hitachi offered the state government to partner in areas of smart city solutions, healthcare and education.

The Chief Minister asked them to explore setting up a heavy machinery manufacturing unit in the Telangana. Hitachi company already has a presence in Hyderabad and would begin its second operations unit this August.
