T-govt’s new plan to postpone GHMC polls

Hyderabad High Court earlier gave a ruling that the government will have to conduct the elections and make sure the new GHMC council on or before December 15th. However Telangana government is in no mood to face the election this year. TRS party is traditionally weak in GHMC area where settlers population is high and so Telangana government is delaying the elections as much as possible.

The state government had got reports that settlers are not happy with way Telangana government is handling Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu especially in Cash for Vote case. To prevent the backlash, Government wants to postpone the elections further.

Accordingly, the government is planning to move the Supreme Court seeking more time to conduct the polls. On the other side there are severe allegations that the government is misusing official machinery to remove the votes of settlers to prevent their impact in the elections.
