The launch of the pilot is being planned for a long time but has been delayed due to the Lockdowns. If successful, Drone delivery of vaccines will ensure the deeper penetration of vaccination especially in remote areas. It can also be used for the delivery of emergency medicine.
Drone Deliveries will be extremely handy to deploy vaccines and medicines to difficult-to-reach hilly regions, forest areas, Naxal dominated areas where transporting medicines and vaccines is difficult especially during the rainy season. Each drone will be able to carry a maximum of 3 Kgs payload which means it will be able to carry at least two units of blood and many vaccine vials.
