Kavitha donates one year salary for farmers!

Telangana Jagruthi President and Nizamabad MP, Kavitha of late had called for adopting the families of farmers in distress in the wake of increasing suicides in the state. Kavitha as her contribution donated her next year salary to help the farmers. MPs will be receiving 50000 per month as salary which means Kavitha has donated 6 Lakhs.

This amount will be donated to the identified families of farmers who are in financial trouble. Going by Kavitha’s call, several others are coming forward to donate amounts for this cause. Earlier this month, Telangana government had roped in sports persons from Hyderabad – Sania Mirza, Jwala Gutta and Pragyan Ojha as ‘Farm Ambassadors’. They work under Telangana Jagruthi in instilling confidence in the farmers in distress.

All these are temporary measures which will not solve the issue permanently. The state government should identify the root cause of these suicides and take steps to make agriculture profitable. Telangana ranks second in farmers suicides across the country.
