Finally, TG Local Polls Schedule to Be Out

The Telangana government is set to conduct local body elections soon. The State Election Commission will meet at 11 am on Saturday to discuss the schedule with the government, DGP, district collectors, and SPs, setting the stage for official announcements.

The election schedule is likely to be announced by Saturday evening, with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy expected to release a Government Order on Friday night. Preparations are already underway across political parties in anticipation of the polls.

BRS working president KTR urged party cadres to get ready for local elections on Friday. The BRS feels confident, sensing an anti-Congress wave across the state, and aims to capitalise on the current political sentiment.

The ruling Congress government faces several challenges, including urea shortages, farmer issues, urban flooding, HYDRAA demolitions, and alleged high-level corruption. These factors have weakened its image, creating doubts about its chances in the upcoming polls.

Earlier, Telangana Congress sought to delay elections, citing the need to lift reservation caps to 42% in local body polls. However, the Bill has not yet been passed by the Governor and President, forcing the Congress to proceed with elections before the September 30 deadline.
