Telangana officials becoming extortion agents!

Telangana State government had set 100 percent Tax recovery targets for panchayats and urban local bodies. However these targets have been turning the government officials in to ‘extortion agents’ and ‘recovery agents’. We usually see Credit Card companies deploying goons to recover their payments. They create panic by taking away costly belongings of defaults as recovery.

The state government officials are doing the same. In lieu of collecting 100% taxes, officials of KCR’s native district, Medak are taking away doors and windows of houses besides furniture, TVs, refrigerators and household items like gas cylinders and even utensils. These are being kept in the local panchayat offices and are released only after paying the taxes.

Similar scenes are all over the state. In Hyderabad, GHMC is already closing down shops to collect the pending taxes. They are even keeping ‘dumping bins’ in front of defaulters’ houses to recover the defaulting amounts attracting public flak.
