Telangana prisons to have 5 star facilities!

Courts in the country occasionally allow an air-conditioned facility and using services like phone, Internet and video conferencing to some of the high profile people during their stay in jails as under trial prisoners. Tihar jail is currently offering this facilities to Sahara Group Chief Subroto Roy and is drawing Rs 31 lakh as charges. However the prisons in Telangana do not have any of these facilities even if the need arises and thereby losing big money making opportunity.

Earlier YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and other bigwigs like former excise minister Mopidevi Venkataramana Rao, industrialist Nimmagadda Prasad, bureaucrat Vijay Sai Reddy, and suspended senior IAS officer Y. Srilakshmi were granted “special class prisoner” status but the lack of proper facilities in Chanchalguda jail deprived them of these facilities as well as the state of good income.

So government is planning to upgrade some of the prisons in the state with such facilities so as to offer these facilities and get some money in return which can be later used for the development works in the prisons and welfare of the prisoners.
