SIT Ordered For CM Photos, IPS Officer’s Issue: TG

Telangana DGP Shivadhar Reddy has ordered a Special Investigation Team to probe recent cases linked to objectionable content. The SIT will examine cases registered at Hyderabad CCS and Maddur in Narayanapet district. The move comes amid rising concerns over offensive posts.

An eight-member SIT has been constituted for the investigation. It will be headed by Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar. The team has been tasked with reviewing multiple sensitive cases.

One case was registered against Kavali Venkatesh, a member of a Public TV Whatsapp group. He was accused of posting offensive images of Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. The complaint was lodged by Congress leader Gulla Narasimha on January 11.

Following the complaint, police registered a formal case and began preliminary action. Officials stated that such content was circulated with intent to provoke. The case is now part of the SIT review.

Another case was booked at Hyderabad CCS for telecasting objectionable content. It involves two television channels and seven YouTube channels. The complaint was filed by IAS Officer’s Association secretary Jayesh Ranjan.

Police have registered cases under BNS sections 75, 78, 79, 351 (1), and 352 (2). Authorities stated that these sections apply to the nature of content circulated. The investigation will assess individual responsibility.

Officials noted a growing trend of people posting objectionable material for views and shares. Such content is not limited to social media platforms. It is also being widely circulated through Whatsapp groups.

Police officials said strict action is necessary to curb these activities. They believe enforcement will discourage those seeking attention through offensive posts. The SIT is expected to submit its findings after a detailed probe.
