Telecom Operators provided crucial evidences?

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed on the Phone Tapping allegations had completed the investigation of Telecom Service Providers in Bhavanipuram Police Station, Vijayawada. They reportedly revealed that Telangana government had taken the call data of AP politicians and officials from them.

Unconfirmed reports say Telecom Operators have agreed that phone tapping indeed happened but they are restrained to share the details stating the rules. APCID had already filed a petition in high court to direct Telecom Operators to divulge the details. Once the court directs them, the SIT will be able to extract all the necessary details.

Phone Tapping is a serious crime in India. Only Union Home Secretary can issue permissions for phone tapping when he is convinced that national security is at risk by some one. In 1988, Karnataka Chief Minister Ramakrishna Hegde was forced to resign over the allegations of phone tapping on opposition parties and businessmen in the state.
