AP, TS fight for AC Plant

Popular Air Conditioners brand, Blue Star is eyeing the Telugu States for its first manufacturing plant in the South. The company currently operates from its plant in Himachal Pradesh and is looking to come South. It is said that the company is keen on setting up the plant in Hyderabad or Tada in AP and will make an investment of 150 Crore here.

The company is in talks with both the state governments and is looking at a place with more incentives. AP will be the first choice if the state manages to get the Special Status. This plant will manufacture 5 Lakh units per year and the company wants to finalize the plant location by October.

The company is planning to complete the construction of the manufacturing unit in 15 months and start operations. Blue Star currently has 45% of it sales coming in from South India and is keen to touch the 50% mark with this new plant.
