Andhra Pradesh Education Minister Nara Lokesh stated that the government is designing the guidelines for the prestigious “Thalliki Vandanam” scheme.
Under this scheme, the government would give Rs. 15,000 annually to every school-going student in the state. The government assured this financial benefit until a student completes his intermediate.
Lokesh answered various questions from the members of the legislative council earlier today. There were speculations about the beneficiary eligibility of this scheme.
Lokesh asserted that “Thalliki Vandanam” would be given to any number of students in a family, unlike the previous government which gave the scheme only to one student in a family.
Lokesh stated that the Thalliki Vandanam scheme would apply to students of both government and private institutions.
With this scheme, the burden of tuition fees will be reduced on parents. By giving the scheme to every child in the state, the TDP-led NDA government is making sure to prevent cases of children not being sent to schools by parents due to their inability to pay fees.
Lokesh stated that due to improper governance of the former YCP government, 72000 students have been decreased in the government schools.
He said that the current government would ensure to provide the best education and infrastructural facilities in government schools and increase the number of admissions.
He said that the Education Department will study the good aspects of government schools across other states and try to implement them in Andhra Pradesh from the next academic year.
