Thanks To Kutami, Glory Back To Tollywood

Tollywood was clearly rattled by the previous YCP government in Andhra Pradesh which set caps on the cinema ticketing prices and number of shows. This was always bound to affect the film industry in a negative way.

But with the onset of the Kutami government, the tide is starting to change slowly but surely. An evidence of the same is the AP government’s special boon to Kalki which is arriving on the 27th of this month.

The government permitted a ticket hike of Rs 125 for plexes and Rs 75 for single screens in AP. This is a very measured and much-needed boost for a film that has well over Rs 500 crore involved.

If this is a yardstick of what is to come, then the likes of Pushpa 2, Devara, Game Changer can all bank on a safe run in AP with the help from the government regarding the ticket prices and additional shows.

AP used to be a safe haven for Tollywood prior to 2019 with price hikes and additional shows but things changed since the onset of YCP. But now that Kutami is back in power again, the glory days appear to be back for the film industry.

It is almost as if the makers of these biggies knew a shift in government, considering all of them scheduled 2024 second-half release, given that the polls would be held mid-year.
