The Worse Is Yet To Come For Theaters In AP?

Theaters Business in Andhra Pradesh shook on Wednesday with raids from the district administration. Theaters were seized at many places and some Theaters had to close voluntarily due to untenable prices being imposed by the government.

But then, this does not seem to be a random affair. Government has given a G.O. instructing all district collectors to inspect the Theaters and look for violations in ambience, parking, toilets, Canteen, water facilities, fire safety, hygiene etc.

The Government has set a deadline to complete the exercise by December 29th and send the report to the Home Department. Usually, such communications happen on paper but the government is in so hurry that it had asked the joint collectors to send the reports on a mail id.

The sense of urgency of the government indicates that the worse is yet to come for the theaters business and the industry as a whole. What is that government is gaining through this harassment? No one knows.
