Union Government will completely offload all its share in these airports to private players. All these airports will be put up for sale between 2022-25, the central government has announced.

In Andhra Pradesh, three major airports – Vijayawada, Tirupati, and Rajamahendravaram will be put up for sale.

Center says the airports had been selected after looking at their annual traffic trends and all airports having annual traffic of above 0.4 million passengers have been selected for privatization.

Interestingly, the air traffic of Vijayawada airport was booming during Chandrababu Naidu’s regime.

There used to be a complete flow of visitors and investors to Amaravati when the capital works are in full swing. But once the government changed, the flow decreased and the air traffic got impacted.
