Tirupati Balaji to look after his own ‘Power’ needs!

Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam is looking at producing its own Power necessary for the temple, Guest houses, Nitya Annadanam Kitchen, Bus Stands etc. The Temple authorities are planning to produce 17.2MW Power from Solar and Wind Energy Plants. It is estimated that this project will cost 90 Crores for the Lord. The Projects will be built on BOT (Build, Operate and Transfer) mode.

TTD will be giving the necessary lands for this projects and the contractor will have to bear all the investment expenses. He will be selling the power to TTD for 10 years and will have to surrender the plant and move away after that period.

Contractors want this period to be 20 years. 10MW Solar Power Plant will come up at Thambalapalli where there is 60 acres of TTD Land. TTD is already producing 8MW Wind Power. Two 3.6MW Wind Power Plants are being planned at Akkadarlagudi and Narayanagiri.
