Telangana government is resorting to blackmail tactics on its Andhra Pradesh counterpart regarding the Power and water. Since both the states share majority of water projects, it is inevitable that both of them should work together for water conservation. Ahead of Summer, it is necessary to preserve water in the reservoirs and save them for the dry season for drinking and agricultural uses. But the power starved Telangana state is behaving as if it will be okay if today passes and is generating Hydel power using the water stored in the reservoirs which means there is a danger of water scarcity for Telangana as well as Rayalaseema.
Telangana is producing power from Srisailam left gates which will bring drinking water scarcity to Rayalaseema for the next summer. Andhra Pradesh government has intimated the Telangana government that they have stopped producing Hydel power and requested to do the same and preserve water for summer. However Telangana has refused it blatantly and offered to stop the power production only if AP gives 300 MW of power in exchange. Andhra Pradesh government is gearing up to take this issue to Krishna River Board.
