TS needs 3 years to enjoy Chhattisgarh Power

The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Telangana and Chhattisgarh for 1000 MW of Power to the newest state will not provide any immediate respite to the power woes stricken state. Experts say that the power can only be used after 3 years due to various complications involved. The MOU is now to be followed by power purchase agreements (PPAs) between power corporations of both States and approvals of those PPAs by their respective electricity regulatory commissions.

The approved PPAs will later be submitted to the Power Grid Corporation along with the application for allotment of grid corridor. However the is no available Grid corridor for the use of Telangana. All the existing lines are already booked by Tamil Nadu government. To bring Chhattisgarh power to Telangana, fresh lines had to be laid between Wardha and Dichpally and this process will approximately roughly 18 months.
