TS to increase vigilance on online sales

With Telangana government and Amazon signing an MOU for setting up Amazon’s largest fulfillment center in the country, every one thought that the state government had withdrew the idea of regulating online trading and mobilize tax revenue from such sales.

We have reliably learnt that Telangana government is going to bring up special amendments to law focusing on monitoring online sales and transactions. The state’s commercial taxes department is working on a new software which will raise the level of vigilance on ticket sales in cinemas, transactions in hotels and corporate hospitals

Telangana government is planning to reward those who tip off the government on such practices with Rs 50,000 or 10% of amount of the tax collected. Telangana government managed to collect Rs.6,200 crore more VAT was collected in 2014-15 compared to the previous financial year.
