Uber Driver Molests Chennai Student By Pressing Private Parts

An auto driver working with Uber has been booked for molesting a college student in Chennai. The brave student took to Twitter and posted a thread recounting the trauma and the difficulty she faced in registering an FIR.

She wrote on Twitter that the Uber Auto driver named Selvam sexually assaulted her on Sunday night when she was returning to her hotel. He molested her by pressing her right breast. She tagged Tamil Nadu Police. She wrote that she tried to stop the driver but he fled from the place.

She further wrote that she dialed the control room on 100 but there was no response. Later a policeman came to their hotel but asked her to wait until morning to file a complaint as there was no woman officer during the night at the police station.

The victim girl then went to the Semmencheri police station but they were not allowed to enter the station as women were not allowed during the night. She was asked to write down her complaint on a white paper outside the police station.

The police officials confirmed that the driver has been arrested and his auto has been seized.

However, the auto driver disputes her version and claims she was under the influence of hard drinks. When she snatched away his phone, he tried to get it back, and that’s when he accidentally touched her breasts.

The student alleged the driver was lying and asked the cops to check the CCTV footage to confirm her version.
