Unresolved Mallavalli Troubles!!

The Mallavalli Model Industrial Park, established during the TDP government (2014-2019), is the largest industrial park in Andhra Pradesh, spread across approximately 1,400 acres near Vijayawada. Of this, around 750 acres were specifically allocated for industries, while the rest was designated for infrastructure like roads, parking, greenery, and other facilities.

The APIIC (Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation) secured permissions from the CRDA (Capital Region Development Authority) in 2018 to proceed with the park’s development. However, with the change in government after the 2019 elections, the YSRCP administration led by Jagan Mohan Reddy made significant alterations to the original plans.

The APIIC set new conditions for industrialists, demanding that they pay the current market rate of Rs. 65 lakh per acre if they wanted to proceed with land registrations. This policy shift led to delays and complications, especially for industrialists who had already paid the previously agreed-upon prices during the TDP regime.

Many industrialists have faced difficulties, as the government either stalled registrations or cited reasons such as litigation and expiration of agreements to delay or deny land allocations. This situation has caused frustration among the industrialists, who argue that they have lost both valuable time and potential business opportunities during the YSRCP’s tenure.

The affected parties now have hopes for redress with the return of the TDP-led coalition government after the 2024 elections. In response, these industrialists, under the guidance of industrial unions, have submitted petitions to the new Chief Minister, Chandrababu Naidu, along with the Industries Minister TG Bharat and MSME Minister Kondapalli Srinivas, seeking justice.

They are hopeful that the coalition government will resolve the issues they have faced in the past five years and ensure that the industrial park can proceed as planned, restoring their lost opportunities.
