Vijay Devarakonda, who recently made headlines for his engagement with Rashmika Mandanna, is back in the news this time over his alleged link to betting app promotions.
He is among several Telugu celebrities and influencers being questioned for promoting online betting platforms that reportedly led to financial losses and suicides in Telugu states.
Earlier, Vijay Devarakonda denied any wrongdoing, claiming he was unaware of the apps’ impact and never took payment or commission for their promotion. Betting apps are banned in India under current law.
The CID SIT summoned him again on Tuesday for questioning. Officials reportedly grilled him for over an hour about possible remuneration or promotional involvement.
After the session, Vijay Devarakonda left the CID office through the back gate. Meanwhile, actor Prakash Raj has also received notices from the SIT in the same case. Several FIRs have been filed against individuals who endorsed these illegal betting apps.
