VJA Metro key work completed well in advance!

The Detailed Project Report (DPR) work of Vijayawada Metro Rail is completed well in advance of the April 30th deadline by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). They will be submitting it any time after April 10th to the Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. They will be incorporating any changes to the DPR based on Naidu’s suggestion and complete the work by April 20th.

DMRC which operates under Union Urban development Ministry will also bid for the project along with others when the tenders are called. Since Chandrababu Naidu is very much impressed with former MD of DMRC E Sreedharan, the government could finalize DMRC as a single tender company. Controversies are less likely since it is owned by the Union government.

It is reliably learnt that the project will cost 7,500 crore in the first phase at nearly Rs. 288 crore per km according to project estimates.The project design will be for a 26-km stretch covering both Bandar and Eluru Roads, connecting key junctions and with 21 intermediate stations. In the second phase, the Metro project will be extended to Thullur, the proposed Capital of Andhra Pradesh.
