Watch: The Famous Khairatabad Ganesh In Making

The Khairatabad Ganesh who is one of the most unique in the world will give darshan to the devotees as Sri Panchamukha Rudra Mahaganapati this year. The idol will be at a height of 40 feet. Led by sculptor Rajendran, 100s of artisans from West Bengal are working on the idol.

The work has started three weeks ago and is going non-stop. The festivities would begin on September 10th and the idol would be immersed on September 19th. The tradition of Khairatabad Ganesh started in 1954 with a one-foot idol and the height only increased every year until 2017.

The committee has decided not to increase the height in 2018 since immersion and transportation are becoming a problem. The height of the idol was reduced from 66 feet to 27 feet last year due to the pandemic and also devotees are not allowed to avoid crowds.
