The work has started three weeks ago and is going non-stop. The festivities would begin on September 10th and the idol would be immersed on September 19th. The tradition of Khairatabad Ganesh started in 1954 with a one-foot idol and the height only increased every year until 2017.
The committee has decided not to increase the height in 2018 since immersion and transportation are becoming a problem. The height of the idol was reduced from 66 feet to 27 feet last year due to the pandemic and also devotees are not allowed to avoid crowds.
